Self Reflection
In examining the rubric, how well do you feel you have satisfied the requirements?
In examining the rubric, I feel that I have put forth a good effort to efficienty make a well developed websight that displays my knowledge of the Ottoman empire.
Going beyond the rubric, what are you particularly proud of or pleased with?
I am particularly proud that I can now explain to anyone who asks or speaks about the ottoman empire. I feel it was an important part in history not many know exactly how or why it happened. The Ottoman empire is a fascinating topic and it was a very important time in our history.
What was challenging or frustrating about the project?
I feel that finding different artifacts to go along with this topic was quite difficult. The Ottoman Empire was such a big event that many different things happened during that period, no matter how large or small, that effected it. With all the little things that happened came to be challenging to decide which bit of information would prove the most useful in developing my websight.
How well did you use computer lab or media center time?
When I was in the lab, I did not have much time to get things done. It was mostly just a time to research and get sights to use. I feel that i could have used my time more wisley though and gotten more things done so I wouldn't have had to do as much on my own time.
What about work outside of class? How much did you do? Discuss.
I did most of my project outside of class. There was a lot of research to do and facts to look up, along with videos and pictures. I wrote all my paragraphs and information outside of class as well.
What was surprising/interesting about your topic?
What surprised me the most about the Ottoman Empire is that they came to dominate most of the world at that time. It amazes me that they were able to get so powerful without being shut down. They were sneaky and smart, and thats how they came to be rulers.
What was your best source of information?
My best source of information was finding out about the Battle of Lepanto. There is a lot of cool facts to learn about and great information explaining how it happened. That battle was a very important battle and led to the decline of the empire.
How is this research project different from traditional academic papers that you have done before?
I have never built a websight before. Building a websight and having to find examples and facts about each event was challenging. I feel that this project was a great way to test my ability as a writer to effectively research and develop a websight explaining this great empire to educate further students or anyone who wants to learn about The Ottoman Empire and how they rose to be dominant rulers.
